What do I need to apply for residential service

Signed letter requesting the service, in applicant's name, kindly include the meter number at the location (if applicable) or customer and premises number for the most previous account holder.

  • Signed letter of authorization from property owner giving applicant permission to have electricity supply in their name (if property is leased or rented)
  • Applicant’s TRN
  • Applicant’s ID (Passport, Drivers' License or National ID/Voters ID); 
  • Proof of ownership, such as either a copy of the Land Title, Property Tax Receipt, letter from Attorney; probated will or letter from a Justice of the Peace (no formal ownership document)
  • Government Electrical Inspection (GEI) Report – Needed for the installation of new meters at properties, if electricity supply was disconnected for a year or more; or if there was no electricity usage for a year or more; or where property was recertified
  • Security Deposit of $6000 JMD
  • Contact number and email address for applicant
  • Driving directions to the premises/property
  • Sign up for the  JPS portal  or the   JPS App   (online or Mobile) and submit application
